The Suffering: A psychological horror game where you play as Torque, a man sent to death row for murdering his ex-wife and two children. The game has many creepy characters, twists and turns, and it was one of the first titles I can remember where your choices throughout the campaign impact the games ending.

The Suffering was developed by Surreal Software and published by Midway games in 2004. Midway games went bankrupt in July 2009 and Surreal Software was gobbled up by Warner Brothers interactive.

Richard Rouse the third wrote the Suffering and it’s sequel but has no more writing credits to date. Rouse has once voice acting credit for the video game Roundabout in 2014.

The Suffering was directed by Alan Patmore. His last known work was a product development credit for the game Iron Brigade in 2011.

  1. I still remember the beginning with those twisted creatures that have blades instead of limbs and how it all went to shits in that prison. That shit was creepy.
